The Friends of the BADA Trust are delighted to announce their events schedule for the Spring and Summer season, the highlight of which is an exclusive private tour of Chevening House, the official residence of the Foreign Secretary.
The early 17th century house was originally the home of the Stanhope family and was bequeathed to the nation by the seventh and last Earl Stanhope, to be managed by a body of trustees.
Chevening is not generally open to the public and the trustees only grant permission for seven tours per year, meaning the private visit on June 13 will be a rare opportunity for the BADA Friends to enjoy the delights of the English Renaissance style manor.
Other unmissable highlights of the Spring/Summer programme include a private tour of the ING Barings Art Collection on March 1, a private visit to Crosby Hall on May 10, a tour of Lambeth Palace and Library on May 18 and a private visit to the Government Art Collection at Queens Yard on June 7.
BADA members will also play a key role in the Friends’ events programme with Lennox Cato hosting a private lunch at BADA 2017 on March 20, map specialist Tim Bryars presenting an afternoon on ‘Maps of the 20th Century’ at Bryars and Bryars on March 29 and ‘An introduction to royal and military antiques and artefacts’ on April 5 courtesy of recent BADA members The Armoury of St James.
