About Mary Cooke Antiques Ltd

Mary Cooke Antiques, located in Mortlake, southwest London, have been trading in 18th-century silver for nearly 50 years. The majority of their stock is British, including Irish and Scottish, and they hold one of the United Kingdom’s largest stocks of Hester Bateman silver, caddy spoons and wine labels.

Among Mary Cooke’s stock can also be found a wide selection of fine silver boxes, made for a variety of uses, ranging from nutmeg graters, to vinaigrettes and snuff boxes, together with charming examples of bodkin cases and patch boxes. Their stock also includes a large selection of flatware, pieces which serve both as functional utensils and finely crafted works of art.

Mary Cooke set up her business in 1967 and was elected to BADA membership in 1978. Together with Neil Shepperson, who joined the company in 1994, Mary is a regular exhibitor at antiques fairs across the country, including the BADA’s own fair which takes place annually at the Duke of York Square in Chelsea every March. Mary is also Chairman of the Silver Vetting Committee at the BADA Fair.

Appointments can be made to view Mary Cooke Antiques’ stock at their riverside studios in Mortlake and Mary and Neil are happy to research and source specialist pieces for clients and collectors. They also offer a valuation service.

Elected to BADA membership for 18th-century silver and collectors' items; valuations.
